Dawn Cogan was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. She achieved her Bachelor’s of Science in Managemant Communications from Bushnell University in 1993.
Mrs. Cogan homeschooled her two children for K-12 grades. During her years of teaching her children at home, Dawn participated in homeschool cooperatives with other families where she taught science and art. Her daughter now has a Bachelor Degree in English and a family of her own. Dawn’s son completed a five year apprenticeship program in plumbing, pipe fitting, and welding and is currently a union plumbing foreman in the Prudhoe Bay oil industry. He, too has a family. Dawn’s husband is an electrical foreman.
Dawn received her Alaska teacher certification in 2015 from University of Alaska, Fairbanks. In 2017, she completed her Master’s Degree in Education Leadership at University of Alaska, Anchorage. Dawn has served as a Correspondence School Teacher and Site Administrator for the past ten years. She has a passion for teaching parents applied instructional strategies through hands-on and real world activities. Dawn specializes in teaching agricultural science as a master gardener and beekeeper who has taught thousands of families how to keep honeybees in their own back yard. She and her husband have four grandchildren and live in Fairbanks, Alaska.
