Associate Professor Dr.Kerstin

Dr.Kerstin Maier Barcroft joined Heriot-Watt University in 2018, taking on the role of Assistant Professor in Human Resource Management, having previously worked at the University of Stirling. Kerstin has always had a keen interest in understanding workplaces and the people therein, and more recently turned her interest to pedagogy and purpose-driven education.
Dr. Kerstin is the Head of Learning and Teaching in the Department of Management. In 2022, she and her team received the ‘Pioneering in Education’ award for their work on the course ‘Becoming a Professional,’ which helps students articulate their purpose and align it with their career ambitions. She recently shared insights from this work at the Academy of Management Conference, presenting alongside Professors Heather McGregor and Mushtak Al Atabi.
Dr. Kerstin holds a PhD in Management from the University of Stirling, an MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Nottingham, and a BA (Hons) in Psychology and Organisation Studies from Lancaster University.
